IMPROVING WERRIBEE’S SPORTING INFRASTRUCTURE

Work has begun on the Chirnside Park Hub redevelopment in Werribee thanks to the Andrews Labor Government’s $50 million Growing Suburbs Fund.

The Chirnside Park Hub redevelopment received $1.5 million from the fund and will significantly improve the facilities available to the Werribee Football Club and other groups such as the Werribee Auskick.

Member for Werribee Tim Pallas helped turn the first sod on the $10.25 million project today, which will include the development of a multicultural and girls academy, unisex toilets, umpires change rooms and community meeting rooms.

Wyndham City Council, AFL, AFL Victoria, Werribee Football Club and the Federal Government also made financial contributions towards the redevelopment, which provides much needed and fully accessible community space that will be used by a variety of sporting, educational, and community organisations.

The Labor Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund targets high priority projects in Victoria’s 10 interface councils – including Wyndham City Council.

The Fund helps build local facilities such as family and community centres, town centres, parks and reserves and playgrounds.

The community facility was one of three projects funded for Wyndham City Council in last year’s Growing Suburbs Fund.
