MEMBERS STATEMENTS: BUDGET 2019–20
Mr PALLAS (Werribee) (09:37:43): I have always maintained that budgets are about priorities and principles, and I am proud that the 2019–20 budget delivers on all our election promises for the great electorate of Werribee. As promised, the tyranny, the inconvenience and the frustration of the Hoppers Crossing level crossing will finally come to an end. Along with earlier commitments, the metro line in Werribee will soon be free of all level crossings. We look forward to less congestion and faster commutes. We are also funding 1600 extra train station car parks across the west, including Wyndham Vale and Werribee. For growing populations, it is vital that we plan public spaces for people and families. Funding for Wyndham includes a new dog park and two river parks as part of the ring of new parklands for growing suburbs right across metropolitan Melbourne. As a young community Wyndham families will benefit from the support of the new early parenting centre. Warringa Park School will receive $12.4 million—a critical upgrade for a fantastic local school. There is also funding for construction of the new Woollahra Primary School. Aspiring young Wyndham athletes will have access to a new high-performance basketball hub, providing a clear pathway for basketballers to play at an elite level. All of this is part of this government’s commitment to improving local infrastructure, grow our economy and make people’s lives easier. We are getting on with the job of delivering for Werribee.
