Member’s statement-Shared Facilities Fund
I rise to inform the house of my recent visits to Werribee Secondary College and Manor Lakes College where I announced funding for two projects through the Shared Facilities Fund.
Just four years ago, I conveyed to the house the concern of parents I had met with in my electorate who were concerned that their child’s school was underfunded, and had been neglected by the former liberal government.
Today, thanks to the dedication of schools and the Andrews Labor Government, Werribee Secondary College and Manor Lakes College are in a better position. Werribee Secondary College is undergoing a $7 million modernisation, and Manor Lakes College a $10.9 million upgrade.
We are delivering our students and educators better classrooms, better facilities and better opportunities.
The Shared Facilities Fund furthers that aim, connecting schools with communities, and creating new opportunities for our students.
Werribee Secondary College will receive a $773,500 upgrade of their Performing Arts Centre and Manor Lakes College a $935,000 reconstruction of their oval; transforming it into a sporting facility that can be used by students and local sports clubs in Wyndham Vale.
Thanks to these upgrades and our dedicated educators; a Werribee Secondary student might discover a passion for theatre, a Manor Lakes student will hone their skills on the sporting field.
The Andrews Labor Government understands the causal link between a good education, and a prosperous future – and that is why we are determined to provide modern facilities to all our students.
