Tarneit P-9 College still waiting for classrooms
Due to the Napthine Government’s neglect, Tarneit P-9 College is racing to make sure portable classrooms are finished and furnished in time for students’ return to school tomorrow.
Shadow Education Minister James Merlino, Telmo Languiller and I visited the school this morning to see workers and teachers struggling to finish portable classrooms to a basic standard – because of delays in delivery of these desperately needed portables, the classrooms are unlikely to be fully equipped with internet and computing facilities, books and other learning resources, as well as the concreting of dirt walkways between the classrooms for weeks or even months.
The Napthine Government has already failed to commit to Stage 2 Capital works at Tarneit College, and now they’ve even failed to deliver portable classrooms ready for over 700 students due to start school tomorrow.
This is not good enough for our students, teachers and school communities.
