East Werribee Employment Precinct
The Baillieu Government’s announcement in late 2012 regarding the East Werribee Employment Precinct comes after two years of inaction since they were elected to
government in 2010.
The Baillieu Government’s failure so far to make any substantive investment in local transport and community infrastructure to meet the needs of the current Wyndham community, does not bode well for a future development that will see an additional 20,000 residents and up to 50,000 workers over the next 20-30 years.
The Growth Areas Authority Draft East Werribee Employment Precinct Structure Plan was opened to the public for discussion. I recently made a joint submission with Jill Hennessy, Member for Altona and John Eren, Member for Lara. This submission outlined community concerns around:
- Governance of the land sales and development of the East Werribee Employment Precinct and how this process would remain transparent and involve the local community in a meaningful way;
- Adequate provision of infrastructure, both transport and social, to service the
growth in activity - The need to hold the Baillieu Government to account on their initial
commitment that all revenue raised from land sales would be reinvested
back in the local community. - The need for targets to be put in place for jobs creation to ensure that this
is an employment precinct with new jobs for local residents and that job
requirements were being met for local residents, rather than more houses
I urge you to sign my petition calling for the Government to stand by its commitment that all revenue raised will be reinvested into Wyndham and call my office on 9742 6888 if you would like any further information.
