WORKS UNDERWAY ON DUNCANS ROAD INTERCHANGE
The Andrews Labor Government is getting on with building the Duncans Road and Princes Freeway interchange at Werribee, which will slash congestion for drivers as part of the $1.8 billion Western Roads Upgrade.
Member for Werribee Tim Pallas today announced the early works of the project will start this week, with night drilling works to begin to locate utility services and assess ground conditions.
The Duncans Road diamond interchange will include two new bridges over the Princes Freeway, with additional entry and exit ramps, a new traffic light intersection at Duncans Road and K Road and a shared cycling and pedestrian path.
More than 11,000 vehicles use the Duncans Road/Princes Freeway intersection each day, which has connections to the town centre, the tourist precinct of Werribee Zoo and Werribee Mansion and Wyndham Harbour.
The Western Roads Upgrade will deliver road widening, duplications and intersection upgrades to fix eight congested roads and maintain more than 260 kilometres of roads across the western suburbs for the next 20 years including:
- Dunnings Road and Palmers Road, Point Cook Road to Princes Freeway, Point Cook
- Palmers Road, Princes Freeway to Western Freeway, Truganina
- Derrimut Road, Sayers Road to Dohertys Road, Tarneit
- Leakes Road, Fitzgerald Road to Derrimut Road, Truganina
- Dohertys Road, Fitzgerald Road to Grieve Parade, Laverton North
- Dohertys Road Foundation Road to Palmers Road, Truganina
- Forsyth Road/Princes Freeway, Hoppers Crossing
Night works will take place on Duncans Road between K Road and the Princes Freeway weekdays from 8pm to 6am, until early April.
The works will be staged, with every possible step being taken to minimize the amount of noise and light affecting nearby properties.
Works on the Western Roads Upgrade will be completed in stages to minimise disruption to road users, with all eight projects to be completed by 2021.
