TAKING ACTION TO PROTECT WERRIBEE PARK

The Andrews Labor Government is taking action to protect and restore one of the Werribee electorate’s most cherished heritage assets.

Member for Werribee Tim Pallas today announced a $500,000 grant for works at Werribee Park, protecting it for generations to come.

Our heritage is our story – and a proud tribute to Werribee’s history. It’s also a valuable source of education and a unique trip through time for young students.

The project will support the first stage of urgent masonry repairs to the Werribee Park Mansion, Werribee.

The Werribee Park Mansion and gardens are a popular tourism destination, managed by Parks Victoria. The estate is open to the public daily.

It’s all part of the Labor Government’s $36.5 million Living Heritage Program. It’s the single biggest boost to heritage assets in Victorian history.

More than 1.9 million people visited Victoria’s heritage buildings, sites or monuments last year – and more than half were international visitors.

Applications for the next round of Living Heritage Program grants will open in February.
