SNEYDES ROAD UPGRADE UNDERWAY

The Andrews Labor Government continues to deliver for the West with work starting
on widening the lanes on Sneydes Rd, East Werribee between Princes Highway and
Hoppers Lane.

Member for Werribee, Tim Pallas, welcomed the $4 million upgrade which will include
sealing the sides of the road, making it safer for the thousands of drivers who
regularly use it.

When works are complete, it will eliminate the narrow lanes so that up to 9000 drivers benefit from improved conditions and better flow of traffic on the road.

The works are part of a $71 million project to upgrade roads and support population
growth in Wyndham, with works already underway on:

  • A new interchange at Sneydes Rd providing
access to the Princess Highway via on and off ramps
  • New traffic lights at the Princes Highway and
Sneydes Rd intersection, and additional lanes constructed at the Princes Highway,
Old Geelong Rd and Hoppers Lane intersection
  • New traffic lights at the Sneydes Rd and
Hoppers Lane intersection, to better connect the area to the new interchange
  • Extension of the shared user path on Sneydes Rd,
allowing cyclists to enjoy a direct route to Federation Trail, near Hoppers Lane,
    without the need to dismount.

The upgrades will support the new East Werribee Employment Precinct, which will be
Melbourne’s newest employment and investment hub.

The precinct is expected to generate more than 58,000 jobs and more than 7,000 new
homes.
