NEW GRANTS NOW AVAILABLE TO HELP VICTORIANS GET ACTIVE
Local sport and recreation clubs in Werribee can now apply for funding to help get Victorians get more active, more often with the latest round of VicHealth Active Club Grants now open.
Active Club Grants have been supporting local clubs across Victoria for close to three decades to buy essential sporting items and sports injury prevention and management equipment.
The grants are aimed at increasing physical activity and helping communities stay connected.
The latest round will have a particular focus on supporting sporting clubs and organisations that can attract more people to their club, or improve participation opportunities for Victoria’s Aboriginal community.
Member for Werribee, Tim Pallas urged all local sport and recreation clubs in Werribee to apply.
There are two grant types that clubs can apply for as part of this year’s Active Club Grants – a grant of up to $3,000 for sports items and equipment, or a larger grant of up to $10,000 for core equipment that will help increase or maintain participation through their club.
The larger grants will be provided to up to ten clubs that can make a big impact and get more Victorians to start or keep being physically active.
For example, this may include clubs that are seeking to implement new programs and activities to increase participation, clubs trying to reach new community members who don’t currently participate, or clubs in areas experiencing significant population growth.
Special consideration will also be given to applications from clubs in areas of socioeconomic disadvantage as well as clubs that can demonstrate that an Active Club Grant will increase opportunities for regular physical activity in their community.

Applications close on Friday 4 March, 2016.
