Victorian not-for-profit organisations and local councils can apply for grants of up to $1,000 to host an event during Children’s Week 2021, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Member for Werribee Tim Pallas invited eligible organisations in Werribee to apply for a grant to help cover the cost of delivering an activity that celebrates this year’s theme ‘Children have the right to choose their own friends and safely connect with others.

This theme is based on Article 15 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Organisations can hold either a virtual or in-person COVID-Safe event in the community during the national Children’s Week, to be held between 23-31 October 2021, which celebrates the right of children to enjoy childhood.

More than 27,000 children and families took part in Children’s Week in 2020, across 82 grant-funded events.

Making Victoria the Education State starts with the early years. That’s why, in an Australian-first, the Andrews Labor Government is investing almost $5 billion this decade to provide three-year-old children with access to 15 hours of a funded kindergarten program.

From 2022, three-year-old children across the state will have access to at least five hours of kindergarten delivered by a teacher. Services will then scale up their hours to reach the full 15-hour program by 2029.
