2023 VICTORIAN YOUTH FEST BEGINS
Young people in Werribee will showcase their talents in this month’s Youth Fest, supported by the Andrews Labor Government.
Local member for Werribee Tim Pallas said the Werribee’s youth focused calendar of events will celebrate creativity and wonder with four youth-led events and activities by and for young people aged between 12 and 25.
The month-long celebration in September provides opportunities to showcase talents, grow networks and to connect with creative like-minded peers.
Youth Fest events in the Werribee include:
- Manor Lakes College P-12 for MLC Youth Fest, an inclusive youth celebration day for students at Manor Lakes College.
- Orygen for Social Media Leadership Day, an event to provide young people with reliable, accessible, and useful information supporting them to use social media in a safe, healthy, and productive way that enhances their lives and supports their mental health.
- Sierra Leone Australia Friendship Association (SLAFA) for UWEZO- Empowering Youth through Edutainment, which aims to empower young West African especially those from Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea living in Western Melbourne through educational workshops and entertainment.
- Suzanne Cory High School for SCHS Short-Film Festival, a School short film festival, open to all SCHS students, to showcase unique perspectives on the world and give students a platform to share their stories with the wider community.
Applications supporting regional and rural events, and underrepresented community groups were prioritised through the Youth Fest program.
