Apprentices, trainees, teachers and training providers will take centre stage at this year’s Victorian Training Awards.

Member for Werribee Tim Pallas today congratulated Werribee Community and Education Centre who was nominated for the Community Training Provider of the Year Award.

A broad range of adaptive educational and community programs are offered by Wyndham Community & Education Centre, a not-for-profit organisation. The organisation responds to disadvantaged learners, youth and refugees with tailored pre-accredited and accredited programs that provide pathways into further education or employment.

For instance, their Saffron Kitchen project provides on-the-job learning in a hospitality environment for people facing multiple barriers to employment.

The awards, now in its 64^th year, celebrate excellence in the training system, showcasing collaboration between industry and training providers.

This year’s awards feature 13 categories including six individual categories.

The awards will be presented at Crown Palladium on Friday 24 August with individual, employer, small and large training provider categories representing Victoria at the Australian Training Awards in Sydney in November.

The Victorian Government has provided an additional $644 million through the 2018–19 Victorian State Budget to ensure all Victorians can access the training they need to get a job and share in Victoria’s prosperity.
