Opening Up The World To Our Best And Brightest
Some of Victoria’s best and brightest IT students will have the opportunity to travel to China and learn from the world’s largest telecommunications supplier Huawei Technologies, as part of a three-year agreement secured by the Andrews Labor Government.
Under the program, fifteen students from RMIT University will travel to China for three weeks where they will visit Huawei’s R&D facilities, logistics hubs and manufacturing plants and work with global technology experts.
The students will also get to experience life on campus at the Beijing Language and Cultural University.
Developed in partnership with the Australian Technology Network of Universities, the program aims to prepare students for careers in the rapidly evolving ICT industry and expose the students to the vast and emerging opportunities in China and Asia.
A further 15 Victorian RMIT students will participate in industry workshops held at Huawei National Innovation and Training Centre in Sydney.
The announcement coincided with a government visit to Huawei’s expansive global headquarters and R&D facility in Shenzhen, China, which included meetings with senior executives, global smart city experts and briefings on the development of 5G mobile networks and the ‘internet of things’ technology.
Huawei’s commitment to training 15 Victorian RMIT University students falls under the company’s Seeds for the Future program.
Huawei’s Seeds for the Future program reinforces the Labor Government’s commitment to skills development and training.
