TEN NEW PEAK TRAINS EVERY WEEK FOR THE WERRIBEE LINE

E

The Andrews Labor Government will add 10 new Werribee line train services in the peak, every week – to get people in Melbourne’s west home safer and sooner.

The extra services will be introduced as part of a new metropolitan train timetable, which will start on 27 August.

A new morning peak service will run from Werribee to the city each weekday, and a new evening peak service will run from the city back to Werribee.

The 10 new Werribee peak services build on the 10 new peak services added in 2015, and this year’s budget funded eight new off-peak services which will start next year.

Direct city services for Altona Loop passengers will be fully restored in the August timetable, with the remaining 37 daily services that currently stop at Newport extended to and from the city.

The change fulfils the Labor Government election commitment to fully restore the direct city services for Altona Loop passengers the former Liberal Government took away.

The timetable change will also add 10 new peak services to the Craigieburn and Sunbury lines, and trains on the Hurstbridge line will be extended to provide more peak hour trains to more people in Melbourne’s north.

The new train timetables will be available in July from ptv.vic.gov.au.
