Taking Victoria’s Economic Success Story To The World
Treasurer Tim Pallas today begins a two-week study tour of European and Asian cities to promote Victoria’s robust economy and discuss new opportunities with leading global investors.
In cooperation with the Treasury Corporation of Victoria (TCV), the Treasurer will visit London, Copenhagen and Helsinki, tapping into expertise in a range of areas, including social and affordable housing, infrastructure, and education.
This will provide an opportunity to learn about European policy approaches and experiences in key policy areas, before the tour winds up in Singapore with meetings to fortify investment links and trade partnerships alongside the recently established Victorian Government Business Office.
The Treasurer will also be hosting a number of investor meetings in each of the cities.
These discussions are timely, with the Treasurer recently tabling Victoria’s 2016-17 Annual Financial Report which showed Victoria’s AAA-rated economy delivering a final operating surplus for 2016-17 of $2.7 billion and state final demand growing well above the national average.
